June was a whirlwind of a month...... My dear friend Frank visited for a week. He brought his trailer so he slept in it a night. No bed to make or sheets to be washed. Makes for a great houseguest. proxyvox and hubby Eric came up from LA for a quick visit. We did dinner at Lulu, dim sum at Yank Sing and saw "Tales of the City". We all liked it but agreed it needed a little work. It was great to have Vernon under foot, even if it was all too brief. My cousin Kim was visiting Monterey for her birthday, so Tony and I drove down there and stayed at Asilomar with them for a night. It was go good to see her and her husband Dale. Asilomar is also shockingly cheap for a place across the street from the beach. We walked the beach in the morning and went to the aquarium in the afternoon. My dogs were barking due to all the walking. The cafe in the aquarium is run by some fancy-schmancy chef named Cindy Pawlcyn from SF and the food was really, really good. We also found a great restaurant on the shore called "The Chart House" which was amazing and I highly recommend it. Tony drags me out of the house to see a lot of movies. and dinners out. and is all romantic. I am still in love. Current Mood: happy |

Winter's Bone
I got a wild hair this evening and went to the movies. Todays SF Chronicle raved about a movie called "Winter's Bone". It takes place in rural Missouri in a strata of society one would not normally see. It was well written and well acted. It made me very glad that I do not live in rural Missouri. I liked it but I wasn't really in the mood to be accosted by a harsh drama. I would recommend it highly, but not if you are in the mood to leave the theatre skipping and laughing. |

obsessed
I watched the second season of True Blood on discs over the last three days. I know it is a bit silly but I cannot look away. I seems a bit like Anne Rice mixed with X-men. I still have trouble seeing Anna and Steven as a real life couple. |

Three things
A. The reno "fun" train....isn't. B. Suing someone in small claims court isn't either. C. I have been the strangest combination of restless and bored. |

I watched the whole Super Bowl at the party and really enjoyed it. For once, it wasn't a runaway game and that made it all the more exciting. It made me remember going to all the Raiders games with my Dad when I was little. I am also glad that New Orleans won, not just because I love that city, but those people need something good to happen to them. |

It rhymes with Moxie.......
Last night, I went to the new and improved Lone Star. By improved, I mean that they cleaned the mirror behind the bar, giving it a whole new ambiance. This was spotted by sftekbear. I noticed that they took the lame aluminum siding panels off the ceiling and made the place darker. We spent the evening talking to CRX, p00kitty and his bf Dave. I started to talk about how certain words of slang are very evocative of specific times in my life. "Bitchin", "Boss" and "Cherry" will always remind me of my SoCal cousins in the sixties. I said that "Foxy" will always remind me of the seventies. I don't know if it was their many drinks or what, but suddenly they decided that we MUST revive "Foxy". I don't know why, as I always thought it was overused in the seventies. Who am I to stand in their way? In order to help with the cause, I will ask a question.......Who is the foxiest fox in Foxyland? Please respond with a lot of foxy answers. Thanks for your support. |

December
Despite my last post, this month was a good one. The highlight was the visit of those wonderful guys from San Antonio....... darke and his hubby chibi_masshuu. I got to play tour guide, which I love to do. I hope that they return soon. Maybe sftekbear and I can visit San Antonio in the spring, depending if Mr. Checkbook and the fucking IRS will leave me any money. They were welcome comic relief from my least favorite month. |

wrap it up and toss it in the trash
2009 was not a good year for me. Almost none of you know that, unless you are intuitive enough to figure out that when I don't post much, I have nothing good to say. I hope to rectify that in the coming year. I still don't care to discuss any of it here. I was raised in one of those families that didn't air our dirty laundry, and that is a trait deeply ingrained in me. I think it will all work itself out in the end but it has taken its toll on me. Next year will hopefully be better. |

quiet sunday
Went to SFMOMA and saw the Richard Avedon photo exhibit with sftekbear. I liked it a lot. Then the gods of twitter revealed that ferricide was only a block away. We met for an early dinner and some dish. Its good to get out of the house now and then. |

A Thousand Pardons
I just deleted my last post. I apparently offended two people that I never intended to hurt in a million years. I apologize to the both of you deeply. Had it been ten years ago, I would have picked Mac and Jack Radcliffe. I was searching for popular guys that people always mention seeing. I guess that a joke isn't funny if you have to explain it. Having said that, here goes. I woke up Sunday and thought, "today is the day that all the bears post about Lazy Bear weekend. Half will love it and half will bitch about it." So I made an easy pick and choose form letter. I knew everyone would be exhausted from the weekend. I never really thought about it being a charity event. I certainly would never make fun people trying to help others. I guess that bear events are now somewhat sacred ground. As to Lazybear itself, I have never gone. My opinion is just at....my own opinion. I have never really said what I think about the event. I have heard good and bad over the years which I distilled into the post. Truthfully, it could have been any bear event. I do again ask forgiveness of two people I really like. |
